SAIT Winter Holiday and Curtailment Coverage

During the winter curtailment period, SAIT will continue to support critical operations and services in the Division. The official closure period in Student Affairs is from December 24, 2018 through January 4, 2019. SAIT support will be as follows:

Desktop Support

We will be monitoring calls and emails. We will have limited staffing, so response times may be reduced. Please continue to call 510-664-9000 (option 1) or email itcsshelp@berkeley.edu to request support. Regular business operations resume on Monday, January 7, 2019.

Student Technology Services

  • Student tech support will not be available during curtailment (12/22/18-1/6/19). Students may continue to email urgent questions to sts-help@berkeley.edu, although response times will be slower. The Student Helpdesk phone line (510-642-4357) will be open Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm beginning Monday, January 7, 2019.
  • Student Helpdesk at Moffitt Library and Residence Hall Academic Centers will be closed until the start of the spring semester. The Computing Center at University Village - Albany will operate on a reduced schedule.

Emergency/Security Issues

Critical issues, such as a system outage, theft, security compromise, or other IT emergency situation should be escalated to Anne Marie Richard, Interim Associate CIO, at (510) 387-3272.

UHS and Optometry

  • The Tang Center will be closed the week of December 24th and reopen Wednesday, January 2nd. There is no official IT support during this period. However, Jeff Kreutzen and Scott McCoy will be on call for urgent issues.
  • The Eye Center at Minor Hall will be open during curtailment (including weekends) except 12/25 and 1/1. Jeff Kreutzen, Scott McCoy, and Philip Weekly will be on call for IT support and any urgent issues.

Remember that theft of mobile devices is known to increase around the curtailment period. Please take steps such as locking devices in secure cabinets/drawers when not in use, and protecting your laptop with hard drive encryption, to protect university information as well as your own.

We hope you have a safe and happy winter break.
